Rebecca Leonard
Rebecca helps people who are struggling with their sense of well-being to reconnect with food and find ways that they can make small changes to nourish both body and mind. Takingtime to care for our bodies can greatly improve how we feel, enabling us to relate better to others around us and find joy in life again. Resilience in the body through good health supports us in managing the stresses of day-to-day life.
She has a BSc Hons in Nutrition Science and a Nutritional Therapy Practice Diploma. Her qualifications have given her a deep understanding of the biochemical processes that go on in our body and how this is influenced by what we eat and how we live. Rebecca takes a non-judgemental and non ‘diet’, client-led approach, always taking into account an individual’s health goals and lifestyle and food preferences.
Rebecca often prefer to focus on what we can add to someone’s diet rather than what to take out and look at what will be beneficial to adjust, increasing nourishment whilst still enjoying the food. Stress levels, physical activity, sleep and our relationship with food impact how our body metabolises food as well as our appetite, cravings and food choices. Hormonal health can also be influenced by how well our body is nourished and also impact mood, sleep, concentration and the ability to cope with day-to-day demands.
Functional testing uses state of the art laboratory assessment providing detailed information about a client’s current health. This enables a personalised and targeted approach which can lead to faster and more effective results. Some of the tests she can offer as part of my practice are hormonal testing, gut health and the microbiome, comprehensive thyroid screening, overall health assessment. She is also able to offer genetic testing to identify how genetic modifications may be predisposing you to imbalances or deficiencies.
